Overcladding
Overcladding is one of the most effective ways to extend the life of an existing industrial or commercial building without the cost and disruption of a full strip-off. It’s a solution we regularly recommend where the underlying structure is still sound, but the roof or external walls are no longer performing as they should or presenting the right image.
By working with the existing structure, we’re able to install a new system over the top of what’s already there. This involves creating a cavity using a Z-bar framework, allowing modern insulation to be added to improve thermal performance. New sheets are then fixed to the framework, providing a fresh, durable finish in a colour and profile that suits the building and its surroundings. The same approach can be used on external walls as well as roofs, and is suitable for a wide range of building types.
One of the key benefits of overcladding is how little it impacts day-to-day operations. In most cases, businesses are able to continue trading as normal while work is carried out, with careful planning around access, safety and sequencing. This makes it a practical option for occupied sites where downtime simply isn’t an option.
As well as improving performance and appearance, overcladding offers a cost-effective alternative to more invasive refurbishment works. It delivers long-term protection, improved insulation and a cleaner, more modern look, all while making sensible use of the structure already in place. For many businesses, it strikes the right balance between budget, longevity and minimal disruption.
